| Playita (the unofficial "gay" beach) is found by walking to the north end of Playa Espadilla and crossing over the rocks at the end of the beach -- something that should not be attempted at high tide. You should wear shoes or thick sandals to cross these volcanic rocks to avoid injury to your feet. Playita, a secluded little beach, is a favorite spot for gay tourists and residents. Following a path into the patch of jungle behind the beach, there is a small waterfall to play in. It is important to remember that this is a public beach, and proper and legal behavior, attire, and respect for others and the environment is expected and may be enforced by local authorities. When you go to Playita, be sure to time your arrival and departure to avoid being stuck there during high tide. | |
